The Pyrenees. This region sounds ever so chic, European perhaps. Picture a sunset falling over a small range of small rolling hills. Rows of vines sweep along these ranges and cover them in dense green that is punctuated by trees, dams and sometimes a road.
Wine from this region has depth and there is a diverse range of micro-climates that make it an exciting growing region. The area is known for its spicy Cabernet Sauvignon’s, crisp Chardonnay’s and remarkably, Sparkling from this region is very well regarded.
Set just over two hours out of Melbourne, the region would make a nice day trip or weekender. There are a number of quality cellar doors and wineries to explore.
