Current Vintage: 2017
Voyager Estate's superb Chardonnay has all the presence, elegance and purity of fruit that you would expect from a renowned producer. In particular, it reflects the cooler climate of the Wallcliffe sub-region and, more precisely, the Stevens Valley-arguably Margaret River's finest Chardonnay zone.
Whole-bunch pressed and raised in one-third new oak barrels, the 2017 is classic Voyager Chardonnay through and through. Early hand-harvesting, use of wild yeast fermentation and grape solids, combined with regular tonnage and top quality French oak have all contributed to an aromatic, complex, textured and elegant style which, again, showcases the purity of fruit from Voyager's, pristine coastal vineyards. Despite viticulture being barely 50 years old (with the first vines being planted in the 1960’s), the Margaret River wine region has firmly established itself as a global rising star. The climate of the region is so befitting to winemaking (and similar to the French region) that it is commonly called Australia’s answer to Bordeaux.
The vignerons of Australia’s west coast have quickly harnessed this ancient terroir, which is suited perfectly to viticulture, and now produce 25% of Australia’s premium wine. Amongst other varietals, the elegant Cabernets, Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blanc of the Margaret River won’t disappoint even the most discerning of tastebuds.
