Voyager | North Block Cabernet Sauvignon
Current Vintage: 2015
100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Voyager's second expression of pure Cabernet comes from Voyager's exceptional North Block 12 vineyard where the vines are now 22 years old. It is arguably the finest red site on the property and the soil is rich in gravel. The block is meticulously harvested up to five times to pick only the perfectly ripe grapes with each pass. Like the Old Block, this was matured in 50% new and 50% two year old fine grained French oak for 18 months.
Despite viticulture being barely 50 years old (with the first vines being planted in the 1960’s), the Margaret River wine region has firmly established itself as a global rising star. The climate of the region is so befitting to winemaking (and similar to the French region) that it is commonly called Australia’s answer to Bordeaux.
The vignerons of Australia’s west coast have quickly harnessed this ancient terroir, which is suited perfectly to viticulture, and now produce 25% of Australia’s premium wine. Amongst other varietals, the elegant Cabernets, Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blanc of the Margaret River won’t disappoint even the most discerning of tastebuds.
