Voyager Chenin Blanc
Current Vintage: 2018
This new release is high on vibrant tropical fruits with underlying citrus and nuances of red apples. The wine displays nice weight and texture with an attractive sweetness balanced with fresh natural acidity.
Voyager Estate has some of the oldest Chenin Blanc vines in Margaret River with one of the blocks being part of the original 1978 plantings. The vineyard soils are typically gravelly loams with a stony clay subsoil with excellent drainage and a good moisture-holding capacity, producing vines with exceptional balance.
Despite viticulture being barely 50 years old (with the first vines being planted in the 1960’s), the Margaret River wine region has firmly established itself as a global rising star. The climate of the region is so befitting to winemaking (and similar to the French region) that it is commonly called Australia’s answer to Bordeaux.
The vignerons of Australia’s west coast have quickly harnessed this ancient terroir, which is suited perfectly to viticulture, and now produce 25% of Australia’s premium wine. Amongst other varietals, the elegant Cabernets, Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blanc of the Margaret River won’t disappoint even the most discerning of tastebuds.
